The Scandinavian has a modern shape, an integrated pour channel and a 48 oz capacity. The Victorian has sculptural curves, a traditional spout and a 56 oz capacity. Both combine the dripper and carafe in one ceramic piece, and both are available as a matching set. The choice comes down to their taste and how much coffee they like to share.

The ceramic set includes a brewer, matching lid and two mugs. Individual brewers include the lid only when you select that option. A grinder is needed for whole beans; a scale and gooseneck kettle are useful extras, but not required.

Yes, if they enjoy making coffee by hand. Place a compatible filter in the brewer, add ground coffee and slowly pour hot water over the grounds. Remove the filter and serve from the same piece. There are no electronics to set up. Our step-by-step brewing guide helps them make their first pot.

Think about what they enjoy using. Filtrare combines a brewing tool with a handmade ceramic piece they can leave on display. It can be a thoughtful choice for a pour-over drinker who loves pottery or wants a brewer and carafe in one. If they are particular about their setup, ask which shape or glaze they would choose.

Each piece is handmade, so small differences in glaze, surface and colour are part of its character. Screens can also show colour differently. Choose from the current product photos and contact us if you would like help deciding between glazes.

We recommend Filtrare square, pre-folded paper filters, available in packs of 30. Appropriately sized Chemex-style filters and compatible reusable filters can also work. Fit and structure matter; thin Melitta-style filters are not recommended. Check the product page for the current starter-filter offer.

The Scandinavian holds up to 48 oz (about 1.4 L); the Victorian holds up to 56 oz (about 1.6 L). The listed six- and seven-cup capacities use 8 oz servings. You can also brew a smaller batch or a single serving. The mugs in the set each hold 8 oz.

The brewer itself needs no electricity, and its built-in carafe means there is no separate vessel to buy. You do need a way to heat water. A gooseneck kettle gives you more control over pouring, but it is not essential. This is a manual pour-over brewer; it does not grind beans or heat water.

The coffee maker is ceramic with lead-free, food-safe glazes. There are no plastic components in the brewer. Your choice of paper or reusable filter is separate. Learn more about our all-ceramic design.

The ceramic pieces are dishwasher safe, but handwashing is preferred to help preserve the finish. Let them cool, then wash with mild dish soap and a soft sponge or bottle brush. Avoid abrasive cleaners and sudden temperature changes. See the instruction manual for care guidance.

Ceramic holds warmth, and the optional matching lid helps between pours. It is not an insulated or electrically heated coffee maker. Do not put it on a stovetop, burner or open flame. For a warming plate, follow our current care guidance.

Filtrare is designed for daily brewing and serving, with a substantial ceramic body. Like other pottery, it can chip or break if dropped or knocked against a hard surface. Handle it with care and keep the original protective packaging for storage or any return.

Preparation and delivery are separate. In-stock pieces are ready to ship within 1–3 days; pieces in production within 7–10 days. Check the note for your selected option, then allow for transit. U.S. ground delivery typically takes 1–5 business days after dispatch. These are estimates, not a Christmas arrival guarantee. Contact us before ordering with your destination and gift date.

Orders ship from Chicago, Illinois. Free shipping is available in the United States and Canada under our current shipping policy. We also ship to many international destinations; checkout shows the options available for your address. Canadian and other international orders may incur duties or taxes. An expedited service, when available, reduces time in transit after dispatch. It does not shorten production or preparation. Ask us about your deadline before placing a time-sensitive order.

If you would like the gift sent directly to someone else, or need a gift note, gift wrapping or a parcel without pricing, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the available arrangements. Check the recipient’s delivery address carefully before checkout.

Yes. You will receive an order confirmation after checkout and a shipping notification with tracking once your parcel is on its way. Use your own email address at checkout if you would like to receive those updates for a surprise gift.

Standard returns generally require an unused item in its original packaging and a request within 30 days of delivery. Eligible coffee makers may be used under the 30-Morning Promise; the original purchaser must request that return within 30 days of delivery, and return shipping costs apply. The clock starts at delivery, not when the gift is opened. Keep the protective packaging and read the full return and exchange terms before buying.

Inspect the parcel when it arrives. Contact us within seven days with your order details, photos of the damage and photos of the box. Keep the box and protective packaging so we can assess the issue and help with a replacement or refund. Please contact us before sending anything back.
